Abstract
the purpose of this research was to compile and compare the selected variables of body posture and physical fitness of students of Tehran with their European counterparts. for this purpose, 384 male and female students of Tehran province in the age groups of 9-17 years were collected from different regions of the province. First, the height and weight of the students were measured, and then waist circumference and hip circumference were evaluated to calculate WHR. Measuring the trunk flexibility, the muscle strength of grip, the endurance of the abdominal muscles, the endurance of the shoulder girdle and the lordosis and kyphosis angle of the students were done. To prepare the norm for each of the variables, in different age groups, percentage points were used; Also, to compare the obtained norms with European counterparts, one-sample t-test was used at a significant level. According to the comparison between male and female students of 9-17 years of age in Tehran province and their European peers; We found that the students of Tehran province had a lower norm in the sit-ups and sit and reach test than their European counterparts, and on the other hand, they obtained a higher norm in the handgrip strength test. The boys of Tehran province performed better than the girls in the handgrip strength test, sit-ups and push up, on the other hand, the girls were better in the sit and reach test. With increasing age, the angle of kyphosis and lordosis increased in boys and girls Tehran province; And the amount of this angle was reported more in girls than boys. According to the findings, education planners and parents should pay more attention to improving the physical fitness and body posture of students in Tehran province.
