Abstract
Considering the need for new scientific methods in order to improve the performance of athletes, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effects before the competition on the proprioception of the shoulder joint of university volleyball players. For this purpose, 28 male volleyball players aged 20-30 participated in the study voluntarily and were divided into two groups, 14 experimental and 14 control. Shoulder joint proprioceptive measurement was done by gyroscope handpiece in shoulder abduction movement at 30 and 60 degree angle and shoulder flexion at 30 and 60 degree angle in both groups before and after the test. Statistical analysis was carried out using paired and independent t-test. The results of this research showed that there is a significant difference in the absolute error of the reconstruction of the target angle in the shoulder joint before and after applying our protocol (P≤0.05). According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the use of sports massager before the competition improves the proprioception of the shoulder joint of volleyball players.
